NORTH ROYALTON, Ohio β May 28, 2026 βThe Lorain Titans came to North Royalton on Thursday with a mission: turn semi-final appearances into finals berths and put athletes in position to earn a trip to Columbus. When the dust settled on a full day of competition at the OHSAA Division I Super-Regional 2, Lorain had done exactly that β and added some hardware along the way.
PHILLIPS EARNS FIRST REGIONAL MEDAL
Senior Brajhia Phillips has been one of the most consistent throwers in Lorain's program all season, and on Thursday she cemented her place in program history. Phillips launched the shot put 34 feet, 4 inches to finish 6th in the field β claiming the first regional medal of her career and standing on the awards podium at the Super-Regional level for the first time.
The finish is the culmination of a season in which Phillips has steadily pushed her own limits, including a personal best in the discus at the GCC Championships. On Thursday it was the shot put circle where she delivered, outperforming a talented field and giving Lorain's throws program its biggest postseason moment of the year.
ROBERTS DOUBLES INTO SATURDAY FINALS β WITH PERSONAL BESTS
If there was any doubt that Autumn Roberts is one of the premier hurdlers in this region, Thursday erased it. The junior ran personal bests in both hurdle events on the same afternoon to advance to Saturday's finals, where the top four finishers will earn a berth at the OHSAA State Championships on June 6β7 in Columbus.
In the girls 100-meter hurdles semi-final, Roberts posted a personal best of 15.39 to finish 4th β a time that sliced nearly a quarter-second off her previous best and placed her among the elite in this regional field. Then she turned around and ran an equally impressive 47.07 in the girls 300-meter hurdles semi-final to finish 6th, again qualifying for Saturday's final. Two events. Two personal bests. Two finals berths. Roberts is running the best hurdles of her life at exactly the right moment.
MOORE ADVANCES IN 200, RELAY SQUAD EARNS FINALS SPOT
Junior Jazion Moore continued to demonstrate why he is one of the most dangerous sprint talents in the region. Moore ran a 22.23 in the boys 200-meter dash semi-final to finish 4th overall and qualify for Saturday's final β the "Q" designation on the results sheet confirming his advancement. Moore, who finished second in the 200 at the GCC Championships with a 22.42, is now one race away from a potential state qualifier.
The boys 4x200 relay team of Jacob Ford, Donte Tinsley II, Jazion Moore, and Jeramiah Daniels added to the Titans' momentum, running a season's best 1:28.96 to finish 7th in the preliminary round and earn a spot in the Saturday relay final. The quartet has now strung together back-to-back strong performances and will have another opportunity to make noise when the finals get underway.
PATTERSON CLEARS A PERSONAL BEST IN HIGH JUMP
Freshman Karlee Patterson delivered one of the most impressive individual performances of her young career on Thursday, clearing 4 feet, 8 inches in the girls high jump β a four-inch improvement over her previous personal best β to finish tied for 15th in the field. The jump, marked as a personal best in the official results, is a significant leap forward for the ninth-grader and a sign of what Lorain's field events may look like in years to come.
