NORTH ROYALTON, Ohio — May 19, 2026 — The skies over North Royalton had other plans. What began as a promising afternoon of championship-level track and field at the OHSAA Division I Super-Regional 2 was cut short by a lightning delay before the 800-meter run could get underway — but not before a few of Lorain's top performers made sure their names were on the advancement list.

ROBERTS LEADS THE WAY — AGAIN
If the GCC Championships were a statement, the Super-Regional prelims were a confirmation. Autumn Roberts posted a personal best of 47.64 in the girls 300-meter hurdles to finish 6th overall in the preliminary round. That time puts her squarely in contention when the semi-finals convene next Thursday at North Royalton.

Roberts had the 4th fastest time (15.64) in the girls 100-meter hurdles, adding a second qualifying mark to her afternoon's work. She enters Thursday as the only Lorain athlete with double-event advancement status. J'me Hood, also entered in the 300-meter hurdles, ran a 54.54 to finish 31st in her heat.

SPRAGGINS ADVANCES IN 110 HURDLES
Junior Cameron Spraggins delivered when it counted, posting a 16.88 in the boys 110-meter hurdles — an automatic qualifier — to finish 15th overall and secure his place in the semi-final field. Sophomore Kaiden Corbin also competed in the 110 hurdles (17.60, 21st) and the 300-meter hurdles (48.02, 34th), with Spraggins adding a 48.86 in the 300 hurdles as well.

SPRINT RESULTS
In the boys 100-meter dash, junior Jeramiah Daniels ran an 11.79 (25th) in a wind-affected heat. On the girls side, junior Viviana Chavez clocked a 13.68 (25th) and freshman Jada Hood posted a 14.69 (40th) in the 100-meter dash prelims.

DISTANCE AND OTHER PRELIM RESULTS
On the track before the delay, Jacob Ford ran a 54.76 in the boys 400-meter prelims (30th). In the girls 400-meter prelims, Emma Buss clocked a 1:11.51 (27th) and Karlee Patterson— ran a 1:15.07 (30th). In the girls 1,600-meter prelims, Abby Palazzola crossed in 6:42.81 (30th) and Elizabeth Ruic in 6:52.09 (31st). Esteban Gil ran 5:24.39 in the boys 1,600-meter prelims (34th)

WHAT'S NEXT — NEXT THURSDAY'S SEMI-FINALS AT NORTH ROYALTON
Next Thursday's session at North Royalton will be a full day of competition. In all running events, the top eight finishers advance to Saturday's finals and the top 4 finalist earn a berth at the OHSAA State Championships on June 6–7 in Columbus.
