April 10, 2026 | Sandusky, Ohio — The Lorain Titans traveled to a soggy Perkins High School for the Pirate Invitational, one of the more competitive multi-team invitationals on the northern Ohio calendar, and left with a pair of event victories, a collection of personal bests, and plenty of momentum heading into the heart of the spring season. The boys team finished 4th out of 16 teams with 52 points, while the girls squad checked in 11th out of 15 teams with 33 points — both strong showings against a deep and talented field.
The Headliners
Two Titans stood above the rest on the day, each climbing to the top of the podium in memorable fashion.
Jazion Moore delivered the performance of the meet for Lorain's boys' program, winning the long jump with a personal best of 21 feet, 3.5 inches. The junior's leap was the best in a competitive field and continues a remarkable upward trajectory — coming on the heels of a 22'7" effort against Mentor just days earlier, Moore is establishing himself as one of the premier long jumpers in the region. He didn't stop there, adding a 5th-place finish in the 200 meters (23.01, Season Best) to give him a multi-event scoring day. Moore also anchored the 2nd-place 4×100 relay (44.67) and the 2nd-place 4×200 relay (1:32.07), making him arguably the most impactful Titan on the track all afternoon.
Autumn Roberts was equally dominant on the girls' side, winning the 100 meter hurdles in a personal best of 15.89 — a time that signals she is rounding into championship form at exactly the right time of year. The junior followed that performance up with a 4th-place finish in the 300 meter hurdles (52.24), completing a remarkable double-event scoring day. Roberts also contributed to relay efforts throughout the afternoon, showcasing the versatility that makes her one of Lorain's most valuable competitors.
Boys Highlights
Sprints
The Titans' sprint corps had a strong showing across multiple events. Jeramiah Daniels set a personal best in the 100 meters, finishing 4th in 11.50, adding valuable points to the team total. Donte Tinsley II ran to 6th place in the 200 meters (23.27), and Jacob Ford earned 7th in the 400 meters with a personal best of 55.41, demonstrating the depth Lorain has developed in the one-lap event.
In relays, the 4×100 squad — Troy Jones, Jeramiah Daniels, Donte Tinsley II, and Jazion Moore — took 2nd place in 44.67, and the 4×200 squad — Troy Jones, Donte Tinsley II, Jeramiah Daniels, and Jazion Moore — also finished 2nd in 1:32.07. Both relay performances reflect how cohesive this group has become through the early weeks of the season.
Hurdles
Cameron Spraggins was Lorain's top hurdles performer, finishing 6th in the 110 meter hurdles (17.27, PB) and 8th in the 300 meter hurdles (44.73, PB). Scoring in both hurdles events in a 16-team field is a testament to his growth this season. Kaiden Corbin added depth, finishing 15th in the 300 meter hurdles (47.41, PB).
Distance
The distance crew continued to show improvement. Jaaron Kidd placed 15th in the 800 meters (2:17.88, SB), and Abimelec Rivera set a personal best in the same event, crossing in 2:20.98 (PB). Micah Eskridge ran the 1600 meters (5:23.40) and 3200 meters (11:40.13, SB), doubling back to compete hard across multiple grueling events. Esteban Gil also turned in a personal best in the 3200 meters (11:55.20, PB). The 4×800 relay squad — J'Marion DeWitt, Abimelec Rivera, Jaaron Kidd, and Micah Eskridge — finished 8th in 9:15.90, earning a point for the Titans.
Field Events
Amarian Miller had a strong day in the field, tying for 6th place in the high jump at 5-06, earning valuable team points. In the throws, Amari Ammons placed 24th in the shot put (34-00) and 20th in the discus (101-04, PB) — his personal best in the discus is a sign he is finding his stride in the latter portion of the season. Fa'Mone Howell also set a personal best in the shot put (27-04, PB) and competed in the discus as well.
Donte Tinsley II rounded out his multi-event day with a 4th-place finish in the long jump (20-05.50).
Girls Highlights
Sprints & Hurdles
Autumn Roberts anchored a strong hurdles and sprint day for the girls. Beyond her two top-four finishes, she contributed to relay squads all afternoon. Viviana Chavez was Lorain's top sprinter in the open events, finishing 5th in the 400 meters (1:04.87) and 8th in the 200 meters (28.02) — both performances consistent with the high standard she set earlier in the week. Emma Bus set a personal best in the 400 meters, finishing 16th in 1:11.58 (PB), showing continued growth.
J'me Hood backed up her first-place partner in the hurdles, finishing 3rd in the 100 meter hurdles (17.81, PB) to give Lorain a 1-3 sweep of the event. Hood also placed 12th in the 300 meter hurdles (58.38, SB). The 1-3 finish in the 100 meter hurdles was one of the most complete event performances of the day for any Lorain squad.
Relays
The girls relay groups continued to build on what has been a strong relay season. The 4×200 squad — Viviana Chavez, Autumn Roberts, Jme Hood, and Janelle Butler — finished 6th in 1:55.17, and the 4×400 squad — Janelle Butler, Viviana Chavez, Emma Bus, and Karlee Patterson — placed 9th in a season’s best time of 4:38.17. The 4×800 team — Abby Palazzola, Elizabeth Ruic, Melanie Verdin, and Lara Wimmer — rounded out the relay day with a 12th-place finish in 12:19.41. The 4×100 squad was disqualified after what appeared to be a promising run.
Distance
Abby Palazzola had a solid distance double, finishing 27th in the 800 meters (3:04.05, SB) and 19th in the 1600 meters (6:29.89, SB) — both season bests representing continued improvement as the postseason approaches. Elizabeth Ruic also completed both distance events. Melanie Verdin set a personal best in the 3200 meters (14:07.88, PB), and Natalia Sanchez did the same, finishing the 3200 meters in 15:41.10 (PB).
Field Events
Brajhia Phillips remained one of Lorain's most consistent field event contributors, placing 5th in the shot put (32-08) to score for the Titans. She also competed in the discus, finishing 14th (75-10). India Davis set a personal best in the shot put (26-09, PB) showing continued growth as a thrower.
Ava Miller remains consistent in the long jump with an 11th-place finish of 14-08, while Sa'Nija King leaped to a season best of 12-05.50 (SB) in the same event. Both performances point to continued development in the jumps heading into the postseason.

Looking Ahead
The Titans don't have long to rest. Lorain travels to Brunswick on Wednesday for a dual meet, another opportunity to sharpen the roster and pick up momentum before the calendar turns toward championship season. Then, the focus shifts to one of the most important meets on the schedule — next Friday, the Titans head to Firelands for the Lorain County Invitational Meet, where county bragging rights and postseason seeding will be on the line.
With the boys finishing 4th out of 16 teams and the girls placing 11th at Perkins, the Lorain Titans leave with a clear picture of where they stand and where they are going. Moore's event victory and Roberts' gold in the hurdles give the program two headline moments to build on, and the volume of personal bests and season bests across the roster — in nearly every discipline — suggests the Titans are trending upward at exactly the right moment.
The schedule will only get tougher from here. So will Lorain.
