Titans Open Outdoor Season With Heart at Strongsville Elite

Under snow flurries and temperatures in the low 40s, the Lorain Titans opened their 2026 outdoor track and field season at the Strongsville Elite Invitational. Despite the conditions, the Titans competed with energy and determination — with personal bests spread across both the girls' and boys' squads on opening day.

Girls Highlights
Junior Viviana Chavez was one of the day's most versatile performers, earning a personal best of 28.27 in the 200M and placing 4th in the 400M (1:06.08). Junior Autumn Roberts had a strong double, finishing 5th in the 100M hurdles and posting a personal best of 54.16 in the 300M hurdles. Freshman Elyanna Arkel debuted with a personal best of 20.81 in the 100M hurdles, while freshmen Karlee Patterson (15.47 PB) and Jada Hood (15.57 PB) made their marks in the 100M dash.

In the distance events, Melanie Verdin posted personal bests in both the 1600M (6:50.16) and 3200M (14:37.52, 4th place), joined by Natalia Sanchez (15:54.56 PB in the 3200M), Elizabeth Ruic (6:43.59 PB in the 1600M), and Lara Wimmer (PBs in both the 800M and 1600M). Jazzy Hamilton-Holt threw a personal best of 62-9 in the discus.

Girls relays: The 4x200M "A" team (Emma Bus, Ava Miller, Viviana Chavez, Autumn Roberts) placed 6th in 2:01.78. The 4x400M "A" team (Viviana Chavez, Janelle Bonty, Emma Bus, Jada Hood) placed 7th in 5:01.87. The 4x100M "A" team (Emma Bus, J'Me Hood, Karlee Patterson, Ava Miller) placed 8th in 56.29. "B" relay squads also competed, with members Samara Nixon, Toni Howard, Daiyan Torres Ramirez, Keiliany Figueroa, Elyanna Arkel, Aauna Mcafee, Niya Chapman, Aliyah Arkel, and Jaliyah Echols all contributing.

Boys Highlights
The sprint corps was impressive from the jump. Junior Jeramiah Daniels tied for 4th in the 100M with a personal best of 11.77, with fellow junior Amarian Miller close behind in 6th at 11.81. Senior Jacob Ford was the day's most versatile performer — personal bests in the 200M (24.53), 400M (56.39), and high jump (5-3, 7th place).

In the long jump, junior Jazion Moore soared to 3rd with a personal best of 20-6, while freshman Donte Tinsley II tied for 4th at 20-1 (PB). Junior Cameron Spraggins posted personal bests in both hurdles events — 18.25 in the 110M and 46.02 in the 300M (6th place).

Senior Amari Ammons contributed across events, running the 200M and launching a personal best of 93-8 in the discus. Distance standouts included Esteban Gil (PBs in 1600M and 3200M), Dane Bednarik (6:08.74 PB in 1600M), and Jeaun Sanchez (PB in the 800M).

Boys relays: The 4x200M "A" team (Troy Jones, Donte Tinsley II, Jeramiah Daniels, Jazion Moore) placed 2nd in 1:32.97. The 4x100M "A" team (Troy Jones, Amarian Miller, Donte Tinsley II, Jeramiah Daniels) placed 3rd in 44.43. The 4x400M "A" team (Troy Jones, Jacob Ford, Jazion Moore, Donte Tinsley II) placed 4th in 3:43.31. "B" relay squads also competed, with contributions from Jamirius Lane, Carmelo Gonzalez, Jeremiah King, Joel Kirksey III, Kaiden Corbin, Raul Valentin, J'Marion Dewitt, Micah Eskridge, Esteban Gil, Abimelec Rivera, Jayden Fraizer, Dane Bednarik, and Jeaun Sanchez.
