February 8, 2026 - Kent, Ohio - The Lorain Titans made their mark in a big way at the Kent State High School meet on Saturday, February 8, setting two school records and collecting multiple personal bests in a standout team performance.
Senior Folakemi Fasola electrified the team with a school record performance in the 800-meter run, clocking 2:40.22 to finish 14th overall in a competitive field. Fasola's gutsy race broke through a previous barrier and showcased her middle-distance prowess.
The highlight of the day came came in the boys 4x200-meter relay, where the Titans stormed to a seventh-place finish with a school record time of 1:33.75. The record-breaking quartet of Amarian Miller, Dante Tinsley, Troy Jones, and Jazion Moore combined speed and precision to etch their names in Lorain track history.
Moore also excelled individually, placing 17th in the 60-meter dash preliminaries (7.25) and seventh in the long jump with a leap of 21-04.00 (6.50m). Miller added a 23rd-place finish in the 200-meter dash (23.17).
The Titans enjoyed a banner day of personal bests across multiple events. Autumn Roberts recorded a personal best in the 60-meter hurdles preliminaries (9.71) before finishing seventh in the finals (9.84). Janelle Butler achieved personal bests in both the 200-meter dash (29.94) and 400-meter dash (1:13.51). Fellow freshman Ja'Myriah Oliver also set a PB in the 400M ( 1:11.82). J'Marion DeWitt posted a personal best in the 400-meter dash (1:00.35), while Amari Ammons did the same in the shot put (29-10.00).
Viviana Chavez turned in season bests in both the 400-meter dash (1:06.66) and 800-meter run (2:54.06), demonstrating her versatility in the middle distances.
In the girls sprints, Jayla King clocked a personal best in the 200-meter dash (33.44), and Karly Patterson matched that achievement with her 200-meter time of 30.30.
In the girls 1600-meter run, Abby Palazzola (6:31.16) and Elizabeth Ruic (7:02.00) both recorded personal bests, while Melanie Verdin also achieved a personal best in the 3200-meter run (15:03.39).
The record-breaking performances signal a promising trajectory for the Titans as they continue their indoor season.
