Eskridge Breaks School Record, Moore Dominates, and Multiple Personal Bests Highlight Strong Team Performance

January 31, 2026 - Geneva, Ohio - The Lorain High School track and field team delivered an impressive performance at the SPIRE Ohio Preview Meet on Saturday, January 31, highlighted by a school record-breaking run and numerous personal bests.

Eskridge Makes History
Senior Micah Eskridge etched his name in the Lorain record books with a stellar performance in the 3200-meter run. Eskridge clocked 11:28.86 to finish 48th overall while shattering the school record by three seconds in the event. The two-mile effort caps off months of dedicated training and demonstrates Eskridge's commitment to excellence in distance running.

Fasola's Breakthrough in the 800
Senior Folakemi Fasola showed remarkable growth in the 800-meter run, posting a personal best time of 2:44.93 to finish 53rd. Fasola's improvement in the demanding middle-distance event reflects her dedication to training and positions her well for the remainder of the indoor season.

Moore's Multi-Event Excellence
Junior Jazion Moore continued to prove he's one of Lorain's most versatile athletes, excelling in multiple events throughout the meet. Moore's highlight came in the long jump, where he soared to a third-place finish with a mark of 20-06.25, demonstrating his explosive power.
Moore also set a personal best in the 200-meter dash, running 23.25 to place 24th in a highly competitive field. His speed was on display in the 60-meter dash prelims as well, where he posted a 7.17 to finish 14th overall.

Personal Best Parade
The Titans saw multiple athletes achieve personal bests across various events:

Girls:

Elyanna Arkel (freshman) set a PB in the 60-meter hurdles prelims with a time of 12.27.
Abby Palazzola (senior) recorded a personal best of 6:37.80 in the 1600-meter run.
Lara Wimmer (junior) posted a PB of 1:25.36 in the 400-meter dash.
Melanie Verdin (junior) achieved a personal best of 15:29.99 in the 3200-meter run.

Boys:

Jacob Ford (senior) set personal bests in both the long jump (18-08.00) and 200-meter dash (24.73)
Camren Spraggins (junior) ran a personal best 59.64 in the 400-meter dash.
Troy Jones (senior) clocked a PB of 24.18 in the 200-meter dash.
Abimelec Rivera (junior) posted a personal best of 2:19.31 in the 800-meter run.
J'Marion DeWitt (freshman) ran a PB of 2:21.60 in the 800-meter run.
Amare Tidmore (sophomore) recorded a personal best of 11.94 in the 60-meter hurdles.

Relay Success
Both the girls' 4x800-meter relay (12:31.08) and 4x200-meter relay (1:59.34) teams competed well, finishing ninth and 19th respectively in their events.

Looking Ahead
With multiple personal bests and a school record already in the books, the Titans are building momentum as the indoor season progresses. The coaches will look to build on these performances as the team prepares for upcoming meets and the postseason.

The combination of veteran leadership from seniors like Eskridge, Fasola, and Palazzola, along with emerging talent from underclassmen, positions Lorain for continued success throughout the remainder of the indoor campaign.
