Lorain Titans Excel at Indoor Meet with Multiple Personal Bests and Top Finishes

Location TBD - January 18, 2026 - The Lorain High School track and field teams showcased their depth and talent at this weekend's indoor invitational, producing one champion, nine personal records, and an impressive 15 finals qualifiers across both squads.

Roberts Dominates Hurdles, Leads Girls Squad
Junior Autumn Roberts claimed the meet's top individual honor, winning the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 10.65 seconds. Her victory headlined a strong performance by Lorain's track program and demonstrated her status as one of the region's premier hurdlers.

Roberts was one of four Lorain athletes to advance to the 60-meter hurdles finals, joined by junior J'Me Hood (third in finals, 11.22; personal best of 10.87 in prelims) and freshman Elyanna Arkel (fourth, 12.64). On the boys side, junior Camren Spraggins placed second (9.68) while sophomore Amare Tidmore set a personal record of 12.77 for eighth place.

Roberts also contributed to the championship 4x200-meter relay team that crossed the finish line in 2:06.55, giving the Titans two gold medals on the day.

Sprint Program Shows Remarkable Depth
The Titans' sprint squads demonstrated exceptional depth, placing eight athletes in finals across the 60-meter dash events.
Boys 60-Meter Dash

Three Lorain runners reached the finals, with senior Troy Jones placing third (7.52), junior Amarian Miller earning second (7.49), and junior Ja'von Jackson finishing fifth (7.59).
Girls 60-Meter Dash

An impressive five Lorain athletes qualified for the finals: junior Ava Miller placed third (8.92), junior Viviana Chavez fourth (9.00), junior Autumn Roberts fifth (9.09), junior Aauna McAfee seventh (9.28), and freshman Karlee Patterson eighth (9.40). Patterson's finals appearance marked a personal best of 9.16 in the prelims, showcasing the program's bright future.

Jones Delivers Breakthrough 200-Meter Performance
Senior Troy Jones delivered the meet's most impressive individual performance with a runner-up finish in the 200-meter dash, clocking a personal best of 24.50 seconds. The breakthrough time positions Jones as a serious contender as the season progresses.
Distance Program Produces Breakthroughs

The Titans' distance squad delivered three personal records in championship competition:

Freshman J'Marion DeWitt announced his arrival with a fifth-place finish in the 800-meter run, setting a personal record of 2:23.70 that ranks among the best freshman performances in the region.

Junior Abimelec Rivera matched DeWitt's success with a seventh-place finish and personal best of 2:24.07 in the 800 meters, demonstrating the depth of Lorain's middle-distance program.

Senior Micah Eskridge placed sixth in the 1600-meter run with a time of 5:18.94, adding another top-eight finish for the distance squad.

Multi-Sport Athletes Excel in Track Debut

Freshman Karlee Patterson and junior Ava Miller made impressive debuts in their first track meet of the season while simultaneously competing for the Lorain High School basketball team, demonstrating exceptional athleticism across multiple sports.
Patterson continued her outstanding debut season, setting personal bests in both the 60-meter dash (9.16 in prelims, advancing to finals) and the 200-meter dash (31.37, fourth place), all while balancing basketball commitments.

Miller showcased her elite versatility by winning the long jump with a leap of 13-8.25 and placing third in the 60-meter dash finals (8.92). Her ability to excel at the highest level in both basketball and track highlights her exceptional athletic talent.
Girls Sprint Squad Sets Multiple PRs

Senior Folakemi Fasola delivered a personal best and fourth-place finish in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:10.54, while junior Ja'Myriah Oliver placed seventh in the same event (1:15.96).

Moore Uses Strategic Recovery Approach
Junior Jazion Moore competed in a recovery capacity following his record-breaking performance at the Rubber City Invitational in Akron, where he set a school record with a 23-4 long jump that currently ranks #1 in Ohio and #25 nationally. Using a shortened approach to manage his workload, Moore still placed second in the long jump with a mark of 18-11 and tied for sixth in the high jump (5-4), demonstrating his elite jumping ability even while operating at reduced intensity.

Field Events Excellence
Senior Jacob Ford added a third-place long jump (17-2.5).
Junior J'Me Hood advanced to the hurdles finals with a personal best of 10.87 in prelims (third in finals, 11.22) and placed fourth in the long jump (11-11).

Sophomore Jayla King placed sixth in shot put (23-4) and fifth in long jump (11-1.5).

Junior Karianys Melendez set a personal record in the shot put with a throw of 21-6 (eighth place).

Junior Camren Spraggins reached the 60-meter hurdles finals, placing second with a time of 9.68.

Sophomore Amare Tidmore qualified for the hurdles finals and set a personal record of 12.77 for eighth place.

Junior Viviana Chavez and sophomore Aauna McAfee both reached the 60-meter dash finals, placing fourth (9.00) and seventh (9.28) respectively.

Junior Autumn Roberts competed in the 60-meter dash finals, placing fifth (9.09).

Distance Excellence Continues
Senior Abby Palazzola set personal bests in both the 800-meter run (3:03.96) and 1600-meter run (6:42.58, sixth place), showing her range and consistency across distance events.
