Akron, OH - January 17, 2026 - The Lorain High School track and field teams made their mark at the Rubber City Invitational at Stile Athletics Field House, with two school records highlighting an outstanding day of competition.

Moore Soars to School Record, National Recognition
Junior Jazion Moore delivered a spectacular performance, shattering the school record in the long jump with a winning leap of 23-4. The mark not only earned him first place but also currently ranks #1 in Ohio and #25 in the United States for the indoor season.
Moore's dominance extended beyond the pit. He posted a personal best of 7.14 seconds in the 60-meter dash finals to finish fifth, and clocked 23.38 in the 200-meter dash (ninth place), another personal best. His triple-event performance showcased the versatility and explosiveness that has established him as one of the state's premier athletes.

Eskridge Sets Distance Record
Senior Micah Eskridge rewrote the Lorain record books in the 3200-meter run, finishing 18th with a school-record time of 11:31.83. The breakthrough performance marks a significant milestone for the Titans' distance program and establishes a new standard for future runners to chase.

Roberts Shines with Triple Personal Bests
Junior Autumn Roberts emerged as one of the meet's standout performers with an exceptional three-event performance. Roberts set personal bests in every event she competed in, highlighted by a fourth-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles finals with a time of 9.79 seconds. She added personal bests in the 60-meter dash (8.55, 28th place) and the 200-meter dash (28.48, 24th place). Her consistency and improvement across sprint and hurdle events signals a breakout season in the making.

Additional Highlights
In the hurdles, junior Camren Spraggins posted a fifth-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles finals with a personal best of 9.50 seconds, and also set a personal best in the 400-meter dash (1:00.19).

Senior Jacob Ford contributed in the jumps with a 12th-place long jump (18-6) and set a personal best of 24.83 in the 200-meter dash.

Freshman J'Marion Dewitt ran a personal best of 2:31.72 in the 800-meter run, while the boys 4x200-meter relay team finished fifth (1:34.99) and the 4x800-meter relay squad placed fifth (10:18.77).
On the girls side, senior Melanie Verdin finished seventh in the 3200-meter run with a personal best of 15:35.54.

Junior Lara Wimmer set a personal best in the 400-meter dash (1:25.68), and junior J'Me Hood recorded personal bests in both the 200-meter dash (30.66) and 60-meter hurdles (10.98).

In the throwing events, sophomore Jayla King placed 15th in the shot put with a personal best of 24-6, while junior Karianys Melendez finished 19th with a personal best of 18-7.

The girls 4x200-meter relay team finished eighth with a time of 1:58.88.

The Titans extend their gratitude to the Lorain IAV for their continued support of the track and field program. Their commitment helps provide the resources and opportunities that enable our student-athletes to compete at the highest level.

With two school records, national recognition for Moore's long jump, and numerous personal bests across both teams, the Titans have established themselves as a program on the rise. The combination of explosive power, hurdling excellence, and distance strength positions Lorain for a successful indoor season as they build toward the championship meets ahead.
