The Lorain Titans track and field team kicked off their indoor season with impressive performances at the Tiffin University Winter High School Kickoff, showcasing depth and determination across multiple events.
Distance Runners Lead the Way
The Titans' distance squad delivered standout performances, led by sophomore Abimelec Rivera, who captured second place in the 3200-meter run with a time of 14:00.55. Rivera also placed sixth in the 800 meters (2:24.07), demonstrating his versatility and endurance.
Micah Eskridge and J'Marion DeWitt provided strong support in the distance events. Eskridge finished seventh in both the 1600 (5:30.54) and 800 meters (2:32.39), while DeWitt took third in the 3200 (15:31.74) and 14th in the 800 (2:38.15). Esteban Gil rounded out the distance crew with eighth-place finishes in the 1600 (6:02.66) and 16th in the 800 (2:42.08).
Sprint and Field Standouts
Jazion Moore emerged as a dual threat, earning seventh place in the men's 60-meter dash finals (7.26) while claiming third in the long jump with a leap of 20 feet, 1.25 inches—one of the team's top performances of the day.
On the girls' side, Autumn Roberts excelled in the hurdles, placing third in the 60-meter hurdles finals with a personal best of 10.71 and second in the prelims with another PR of 10.42, showcasing her technical skill and speed.
Personal Bests Highlight the Day
Several Lady Titans set personal records across multiple events. J'Me Hood had an outstanding meet, setting PRs in both the 60-meter hurdles (11.29 in finals, 11.18 in prelims) and the long jump (14-3.75), where she placed ninth. Ja'Myriah Oliver also achieved a personal best in the long jump with a mark of 12-11.5.
On the boys' side, Camren Spraggins posted personal bests in both the 60-meter hurdles (11.23 in finals, 11.10 in prelims) and the 400 meters (1:04.70), demonstrating significant improvement across technical and endurance events.
Building Momentum
Viviana Chavez proved to be a workhorse for the Lady Titans, competing in three events and recording a seventh-place finish in the 400 meters (1:11.97), along with solid performances in the 60-meter dash prelims (26th) and 200 meters (20th).
Elizabeth Ruic showed promise in distance running with eighth place in the 800 (3:21.10) and sixth in the 1600 (7:33.20), while Melanie Verdin placed fifth in the 1600 (7:31.83).
The girls' 4x200-meter relay team earned fifth place with a time of 2:03.76, highlighting the team's depth and ability to compete in relay events.

BOYS TEAM HIGHLIGHTS:
- Sprints: Jacob Ford, Ja'von Jackson, Troy Jones, Pablo Rodriguez, Camren Spraggins, and Amare Tidmore all competed in the 200m, with Ford leading the group in 23rd (25.91)
- 60m Dash: Amarian Miller and Maurice Loppe joined Moore in representing the Titans
- 400m: Multiple entries with Moore leading at 9th place (56.89); Spraggins posted a PR
- Hurdles: Spraggins competed in the 60m hurdles with a PR performance (7th in finals)
- Long Jump: Moore, Loppe, and Ford all placed, with Moore's third-place finish leading the way
GIRLS TEAM HIGHLIGHTS:
- Sprints: Aauna McAfee, Ja'Myriah Oliver, and Janelle Bonty competed across the 60m and 200m events
- Hurdles: Roberts and Hood led the way with PR performances; Sa'Nija King also competed (13th in prelims)
- Distance: Strong showing with Ruic and Verdin in middle distance events
- Long Jump: Hood (9th - PR) and Oliver (12th - PR) posted personal bests; King (15th) and Bonty (16th) also scored
- Relays: Fifth-place finish in the 4x200m relay
Looking Ahead
