Henry Patterson

Henry T. Patterson, Jr.

Head Girls Track Coach

Henry Patterson began his tenure as Head Girls Track Coach in 2022, quickly establishing a program of excellence. Under his leadership, the team captured back-to-back Lake Erie League Track Championships in 2024 and 2025. His 2023 squad earned Regional Runner-up honors, demonstrating the program's competitive strength at the highest levels.

Coach Patterson has consistently guided athletes to both Indoor and Outdoor State Track and Field Championships, developing competitors who excel on Ohio's biggest stages. His coaching has also produced athletes who have competed nationally at prestigious events including the Nike Indoor Championships in New York City (2023 and 2025) and the Nike Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Oregon (2023).

Drawing from his own elite athletic background as a former US National High Jump Champion and three-time US Olympic Trials finalist, Patterson brings invaluable experience and insight to his coaching. His personal achievements include inductions into the University of Toledo Varsity T, Lorain Sports Hall of Fame, and Lorain County Track Coaches Hall of Fame.

Beyond coaching, Henry serves as Of Counsel with Giardini, Poplar & Mason, LLC., and is a tenured Professor of Political Science at Lorain County Community College. An accomplished marathon runner who has completed thirty-six marathons and the Burning River 50 Mile race, he continues to embody the athletic excellence he instills in his athletes. Henry resides in Lorain with his wife Debbie and their three daughters.
