Brunswick, Ohio — May 15, 2026 — When the dust settled at Brunswick High School on Friday evening, the Lorain Titans had done what they came to do. The boys finished tied for fifth in the conference with 39 points. The girls landed seventh with 43 points. But the numbers on the team score sheet only tell part of the story. Day 2 of the Greater Cleveland Conference Track and Field Championships belonged to Lorain in ways the scoreboard can't fully capture — a sprint corps that came within a heartbeat of conference gold, a hurdler who ran the best 300-meter hurdle race of her life, a thrower who obliterated her own personal best when the lights were brightest, and a junior who put together one of the most complete two-day performances of anyone in the field.

Moore Makes His Case for Conference Elite
Junior Jazion Moore did not come to Brunswick to be a supporting character. He came to win. And while the conference title in the 200-meter dash came down to fractions of a second, what Moore delivered across the full two days of competition was nothing short of remarkable. On Day 2, Moore placed second in the 200-meter dash with a blazing 22.42 — crossing behind only Brunswick's Jacob Sepesy (22.28) in a race that was decided by less than two tenths. Moore also placed sixth in the long jump at 21 feet, 4.25 inches, scoring three more points for the Titans. And on the relay circuit, Moore also ran a leg on both the 4x100 and 4x200 squads in championship finals, contributing to back-to-back runner-up finishes that announced Lorain's sprint program as one of the most dangerous in the GCC.
Sophomore Donte Tinsley II added to the Lorain dominance in the sprints, placing fourth in the 200 with 22.60 — two Lorain athletes in the top four of the conference's premier sprint event. That's not a coincidence. That's a program.

Relay Squads Come Agonizingly Close
The story of the Lorain relay corps at these championships may linger all summer. The boys 4x100 team of Troy Jones, Jazion Moore, Donte Tinsley II, and Jeramiah Daniels ran a season’s best time of 42.39 — second in the conference, behind Brunswick's winning 42.19. Two tenths of a second. The same quartet turned right around and ran the 4x200 in 1:28.49, again placing second, behind Brunswick's 1:28.00. Same foursome. Same result. Same razor-thin margin. Brunswick was better on this night — but Lorain made them earn every single hundredth.

Roberts Runs the Race of Her Life
Autumn Roberts entered Thursday's 300-meter hurdle final having already posted a personal best in the prelims. She left it with an even better one. The junior cleared the barriers in 47.87 — a stunning personal best that rewrote her own standard and placed her second in the conference, behind only Shaker Heights' Jennifer Rawls (44.09). Roberts also placed second in the 100-meter hurdle final with a 15.60, giving her two silver medals, two personal bests, and two conference final podium finishes across the two-day meet. If there was a more complete individual performance by a Lorain athlete at this championship, it wasn't visible from the infield.
Junior Jme Hood added to Lorain's hurdle haul by placing eighth in the 100-meter hurdle final with a 17.78. For the boys, junior Cameron Spraggins claimed seventh in the 110-meter hurdle final with a 16.15, delivering on his Day 1 qualifying performance and scoring two points for the Titans.

Phillips Launches a Season-Defining Throw
Senior Brajhia Phillips had already scored for Lorain in the shot put on Day 1. On Day 2, she went further — literally. Phillips uncorked a personal best of 114 feet, 0 inches in the discus to finish 4th, a throw that reset her own standard and announced her as one of the premier throwers in the Greater Cleveland Conference.
