Lorain, Ohio — May 6, 2026 — The Lorain Titans had their final home meet of the season at George Daniel Field on Wednesday night for a dual meet that doubled as Senior Night for the program, and left with a card full of results worth celebrating. On the girls side, junior Autumn Roberts swept both hurdle events, senior Brajhia Phillips dominated the throws, and junior Viviana Chavez won both the 100 and 200 meters — a sprint double that set the tone from the opening gun. On the boys side, Junior Jeramiah Daniels took the 100, junior Jazion Moore swept the 200 and the long jump, and the hurdle corps went 1-2 in the 110s. Across both rosters, the Titans produced event wins, relay gold, and a string of personal bests that signal a program trending upward at exactly the right time.
GIRLS RESULTS
Chavez Sweeps the Sprints
Junior Viviana Chavez was the dominant force on the girls track Wednesday night. She won the 100 meters in 12.9 — a personal best — and came back to win the 200 in 26.3, another personal best. A sprint double, both wins, both personal bests, on the road. Chavez also ran a leg on the winning 4x100 and 4x200 relays, making her the most complete performer on the girls side all evening. For a junior entering the postseason in this kind of form, the timing could not be better.
Sophomore Niya Chapman followed with a personal best 13.6 in the 100 for third place and added a personal best 29.5 in the 200 for seventh. Junior Ava Miller set a season best 13.7 in the 100 for fourth. Junior Jme Hood set a personal best 28.0 in the 200 for third. Junior Emma Buss ran a personal best 28.9 in the 200 for fifth. Personal bests from Chapman, Hood, Buss, Jada Hood (31.2 PB, 12th), Keiliany Figueroa (33.5 PB, 16th), and Toni Howard (34.28a PB, 18th) made the 200 a showcase of growth from one end of the Lorain girls sprint roster to the other.
Roberts Sweeps Both Hurdle Events
Junior Autumn Roberts delivered the kind of performance that postseason dreams are made of. She won the 100-meter hurdles in 15.8, then came back to win the 300-meter hurdles in 51.5 — sweeping both hurdle events in the same dual meet. Roberts continues to be one of the premier hurdlers in the area, and her ability to compete at a high level across both distances in a single afternoon speaks to her fitness and her competitive edge heading into the championship season.
Junior Jme Hood was outstanding in support, placing third in both hurdle events — 17.7 in the 110s and 53.5 in the 300s. Senior Sa’Nija King set a personal best in the 100-meter hurdles at 19.0 for fifth place. With Roberts winning, Hood third, and King setting a personal best, Lorain swept three of the top five spots in the 100-meter hurdles.
Phillips Dominates the Throwing Circle
Senior Brajhia Phillips was in a class of her own in the throws on Wednesday. She won the shot put at 35 feet, 5 inches — a season best — and won the discus at 97 feet, 4 inches, sweeping both throwing events outright. For a senior who has quietly built one of the finest throwing careers in recent Lorain history, Wednesday’s double win was a fitting statement on Senior Night.
Behind Phillips, the Lorain throws depth shone through. Sophomore Jayla King set a personal best in the shot put at 21-5 for third. India Davis set a personal best in the discus at 59-4 for third place as well. Karianys Melendez placed fourth in the shot at 20-1, and Lanaya Gaddy set a personal best at 18-1 for fifth. In the discus, Jazzy Hamilton-Holt placed fourth at 49-8 and Jayla King added a fifth-place 47-1. The Lorain throws corps occupied six of the top eight spots in the shot put.
Relay Corps Sweeps the 4x100 and 4x200
The girls relay corps was the engine behind one of the best team performances of the evening. The 4x100 squad of Jme Hood, Janelle Butler, Autumn Roberts, and Viviana Chavez won the event in 52.5 — first place outright. The same group regrouped and the 4x200 unit of Ava Miller, Janelle Butler, Autumn Roberts, and Viviana Chavez won that event as well in 1:52.0. Two relay wins in one evening from a group that features three athletes who also competed in individual events is a testament to the depth and preparation of this relay corps.
A Lorain B 4x100 squad of Jada Hood, Niya Chapman, Karianys Melendez, and Samara Nixon placed third in 57.8, and a Lorain B 4x200 team of Jada Hood, Emma Buss, Niya Chapman, and Karlee Patterson placed third in 1:59.8. Three top-three relay finishes on the girls side in a single evening. The 4x800 squad of Abby Palazzola, Elizabeth Ruic, Folakemi Fasola, and Lara Wimmer placed second in 12:16.8 to round out the relay card.
Distance and Field Events Round Out the Girls Card
Senior Abby Palazzola was the top Lorain finisher in the 800 meters with a 2:54.4 for second place, and junior Lara Wimmer set a personal best 3:06.0 for fourth. Junior Ava Miller added a personal best 3:20.0 for sixth in the 800. Wimmer also placed in the 1600, and junior Melanie Verdin set a personal best 6:35.8 for seventh in that event. Junior Emma Buss set a personal best 1:08.2 in the 400 for third, while Toni Howard (1:26.17a PB) and Jaliyah Echols (1:27.43a PB) both posted personal bests in the 400 as well.
In the high jump, freshman Elyanna Arkel and freshman Karlee Patterson both cleared 4-2 to tie for third, with sophomore Jayla King jumping J4-2 for a personal best in fourth. In the long jump, junior Ava Miller set a personal best 15-4.5 for second. Junior Viviana Chavez’s personal bests in the 100 and 200 capped an all-around night for the Lorain girls sprint group that will be difficult to top the rest of the regular season.
BOYS RESULTS
Daniels Takes the 100, Moore Claims the 200

Junior Jazion Moore then ran 22.11 — a personal best and the fastest 200 of the entire meet — to win that event outright. Sophomore Donte Tinsley II followed with a personal best 22.46 for second. The Lorain sprint corps placed first and second in both the 100 and the 200. On the road. Against the home squad.

Spraggins and Corbin Go 1-2 in the 110 Hurdles
The hurdles were the story of the night for the Lorain boys. Sophomore Kaiden Corbin set a personal best 17.2 in the 110s for second place and followed with a 46.8 in the 300s for fourth. Lorain went 1-2 in the 110 hurdles on the road. Lorain put four athletes in the top ten of the 300-meter hurdle final.
Moore’s Versatility Anchors the Field Events
After winning the 200, Jazion Moore took the long jump at 21 feet, 3.25 inches — another event win on the same evening. Sophomore Donte Tinsley II followed with a personal best 20-10.5 for second. Lorain went 1-2 in the long jump as well, with both athletes clearing 20 feet. Junior Jahzier Cannon set a personal best at 19-8.25 for fourth, and Maurice Loppe added 17-5.75 for seventh. Lorain placed four athletes in the long jump results.
In the throws, senior Amari Ammons went 34-9 in the shot put for third and cleared 100-4 in the discus for fourth. Junior Anakin Davis posted a personal best 100-1 in the discus for fifth — two Lorain athletes clearing 100 feet in the same meet. Justin McIntosh set personal bests in both the shot put (30-3, eighth) and discus (84-2, 10th).
Boys Relay Corps Posts Three Top-Two Finishes
Lorain’s boys relay squads competed hard across all four events. The 4x200 unit of Jacob Ford, Donte Tinsley II, Jeramiah Daniels, and Jazion Moore ran 1:30.2 for second — within six-tenths of Medina’s winning mark. The 4x100 of Jamirius Lane, Joel Kirksey III, Carmelo Gonzalez, and Kaiden Corbin placed second in 48.0. The 4x800 team of Micah Eskridge, J’Marion Dewitt, Abimelec Rivera, and Jaaron Kidd posted 9:20.7 for second. Three relay runner-up finishes on the road is the work of a relay corps with real depth.
A Lorain B 4x200 entry of Lane, Kirksey III, Gonzalez, and Corbin placed third in 1:46.5. The 4x400 A squad of Justin Clark, Joel Kirksey III, Jaden Mosley, and Jeremiah King ran 4:03.00 for sixth, with the B squad of Jayden Fraizer, Jeaun Sanchez, Raul Valentin, and Andres Gutierrez-Sanchez clocking 4:33.13 for seventh.
Distance and 400 Corps Compete Throughout
In the 400 meters, senior Jacob Ford led the Lorain effort at 55.2 for fifth. Raul Valentin set a personal best 58.0 for eighth and Jahzier Cannon ran a personal best 58.3 for ninth. In the 800, junior Jayden Fraizer set a personal best 2:21.9 for 15th, with Jeaun Sanchez right behind at 2:22.7 for 16th. Pablo Rodriguez set a personal best in the 1600 at 5:40.9 for 11th, and Dane Bednarik set a personal best in the 3200 in his final regular-season appearance in that event.
Looking Ahead
Wednesday at George Daniel Field was a night to remember for the Lorain program. Across both rosters, the Titans produced sprint doubles, relay wins, hurdle sweeps, and event victories in the throws and jumps — capped by a Senior Night that honored the upperclassmen who have helped build what this program is becoming. The number of personal bests on both sides reflects a program that is not just competing, but growing, at exactly the right moment in the season.
The Titans return Friday for the Vermilion Varsity Invitational — another chance to test themselves against some of the finest programs in northeast Ohio. With Chavez and Roberts emerging as legitimate regional title contenders, Phillips providing dominant points in the throws, Moore and Daniels leading one of the deepest sprint corps in the area, and personal bests still coming across both rosters, Lorain enters the final stretch with something to prove. Friday will be another opportunity to prove it.
