Avon, Ohio — May 1, 2026 — The Lorain Titans descended on Avon High School Friday for the Reynolds Invitational, one of the most competitive multi-school meets in the region, and left with a collection of standout performances — headlined by a runner-up finish from junior Autumn Roberts in the hurdles, a strong multi-event day from senior Brajhia Phillips in the throws, a third-place finish from the boys 4x200 relay, and a handful of personal bests scattered across the roster.

The Girls Headliner
Junior Autumn Roberts once again announced herself as one of the premier hurdlers in the area. In a deep field for the 100 meter hurdles, Roberts crossed the line second overall in a personal best 15.53 — a performance that would have won most invitationals outright. She returned later in the afternoon to compete in the 300 meter hurdles, placing ninth in 51.12 in another stacked final. Roberts continues to be one of the most complete athletes on the Lorain roster, and her 100 meter hurdles mark puts her in elite company heading into the postseason. If Friday was any indication, she is peaking at exactly the right time.

Phillips Shows Perseverance in the Throwing Circle
Senior Brajhia Phillips was a force in the throwing events all afternoon. She placed sixth in the shot put at 33-07.75 and followed that with a seventh-place finish in the discus at 101-09 — a throw that cleared 100 feet in an event loaded with experienced upperclassmen from programs across the region. For a senior who has quietly put together one of the finest throwing careers in recent Lorain history, Friday was a fitting showcase. Phillips scored points in two events against some of the toughest competition she will face this spring.

Moore's Versatility on Full Display
If there was a breakout individual story on the boys side Friday, it was junior Jazion Moore. Moore placed sixth in the 200 meters in 22.72 — a top-eight finish in one of the day's most competitive sprint finals — before turning around to place sixth in the long jump at 20-01.00, clearing the 20-foot mark against a 31-athlete field. He then anchored the boys 4x200 relay to a third-place podium finish and contributed a leg on the 4x100 squad that placed fifth in 43.84. Few athletes at any level can produce at that level across sprints, jumps, and relays in a single afternoon. Moore's versatility has quietly become one of the most valuable assets in the Lorain program, and Friday was perhaps his most complete performance of the spring.

Boys 4x200 Earns Hardware
In one of the day's most competitive relay finals, the Lorain boys 4x200 squad of Troy Jones, Jazion Moore, Jeramiah Daniels, and Donte Tinsley II crossed third overall in 1:30.21 — earning a podium finish in a race that featured some of the fastest relay units in the area. The quartet ran with confidence and composure, and the result reflects the depth and versatility this group has shown all spring in the sprint events.

Long Jump Standouts*
Once again, the Titans' long jump tandem delivered. Jazion Moore placed sixth overall with a jump of 20-01.00 while Donte Tinsley II was right behind in eighth at 20-00.50 — both clearing the 20-foot mark in a 31-athlete field. The duo's ability to consistently produce at that level against elite competition makes them one of the most reliable point-scoring weapons on the boys side heading into championship season.

Personal Bests Across the Roster
Friday was a day of growth for a number of Titans athletes competing against high-level fields. Junior Cameron Spraggins set a personal best in the 110 meter hurdles with a sixth-place finish in 16.09 and added a solid showing in the 300 meter hurdles at 46.11. Sophomore Kaiden Corbin set personal bests in both the 110 meter hurdles at 17.50 and the 300 meter hurdles at 46.38. Senior Anakin Davis set personal bests in both the shot put (31-07.50, 30th) and discus (97-10, 22nd).

On the girls side, freshman Janelle Butler set a personal best in the 100 meters at 14.11 in her 22nd-place finish, while junior Ava Miller set a personal best in the long jump at 14-10.25 to place 14th. Junior Jme Hood set personal bests in both the long jump (13-09.00, 23rd) and the 300 meter hurdles at 53.97. Sophomore India Davis set a personal best in the shot put at 26-11.00 to place 18th, while sophomore Jahzier Cannon set a personal best in the high jump at 5-03.00 to place 11th on the boys side.

Distance and Relays
The boys 4x100 squad of Troy Jones, Jazion Moore, Jeramiah Daniels, and Donte Tinsley II placed fifth overall in 43.84, with the relay corps showing speed and execution throughout the day. On the girls side, the 4x800 team of Abby Palazzola, Elizabeth Ruic, Folakemi Fasola, and Melanie Verdin finished 11th in 11:54.54, while the 4x400 squad of Janelle Butler, Karlee Patterson, Folakemi Fasola, and Emma Bus placed 14th in 4:44.58. The boys 4x800 unit of Abimelec Rivera, Jaaron Kidd, Micah Eskridge, and J'Marion Dewitt finished 13th in 9:10.32.

Looking Ahead
The Titans continue to build momentum with the postseason approaching. Friday's invitational provided valuable experience against some of the finest competition in northeast Ohio, and the number of personal bests across both rosters suggests Lorain is trending upward at exactly the right moment. With Roberts emerging as a legitimate regional title contender in the hurdles, Phillips providing consistent points in the throws, and Moore establishing himself as one of the most versatile sprint and field athletes in the area, the Titans have the pieces to make noise when the postseason arrives.
