April 17, 2026 | Oberlin, Ohio — The Lorain Titans brought their best to the Lorain County Invitational at Firelands High School, and when the dust settled, it was the boys' relay corps that stole the show — delivering two of the most memorable performances of the entire meet and etching their names into program history in the process.

The Headliners
If there was any doubt that Lorain's sprint relay group was among the elite in Lorain County, Troy Jones, Jazion Moore, Jeramiah Daniels, and Donte Tinsley II put those doubts to rest in emphatic fashion on Thursday afternoon.

The quartet opened the relay portion of the meet by winning the 4x100 in a season best 42.74 — crossing the finish line first in a competitive field and giving Lorain 10 points right out of the gate. But they weren't finished. When they lined up for the 4x200, they ran with even greater purpose, combining to post a 1:27.63 — a new school record — to finish 2nd and add 8 more points to the team total. Back-to-back relay performances of that magnitude, against county-wide competition, is the kind of thing coaches dream about and athletes work all offseason to achieve. This group didn't just perform — they made history.

Jazion Moore continued to be one of the most complete and impactful athletes in the county, adding an individual 3rd-place finish in the 200 meters with a personal best of 22.51, and a 2nd-place long jump of 21-09.25 — also a personal best. Coming on the heels of his event victory at the Perkins Pirate Invitational just one week ago, Moore is building a resume that demands attention heading into the postseason. Donte Tinsley II was equally impressive, posting personal bests in both the 200 meters (7th, 22.82) and the long jump (4th, 20-09.50), making him one of the most productive multi-event performers of the day for Lorain.

Boys Highlights
Sprints
Jeramiah Daniels continued his strong season, finishing 5th in the 100 meters with a personal best of 11.02 — a mark that signals he is approaching his ceiling at exactly the right time of year. Jacob Ford set a personal best in the 400 meters (52.73), and Troy Jones added a personal best of his own (54.13), reflecting the quiet but steady growth of Lorain's one-lap corps.

Hurdles
Cameron Spraggins turned in a gutsy double, earning 7th place in the 110 meter hurdles with a personal best of 16.45, and following it up with a solid 300 meter hurdles performance of 45.74. Just one week removed from personal bests at Perkins, Spraggins is rounding into championship form. Kaiden Corbin added depth in both hurdle events, posting a personal best of 17.73 in the 110s and 46.54 in the 300s.

Distance
Micah Eskridge and Esteban Gil continued to push each other in the distance events, with Eskridge posting a season best in the 1600 (5:13.19) and Gil earning personal bests in both the 1600 (5:15.92) and 3200 (11:45.30). The 4x800 squad of J'Marion Dewitt, Abimelec Rivera, Jaaron Kidd, and Micah Eskridge competed hard throughout the race.

Field Events
Amari Ammons was Lorain's field general, competing in both the shot put (36-07.75 PB) and discus (106-08 PB) — personal bests in both events reflecting the kind of consistent improvement that bodes well for the postseason. Jacob Ford cleared 5-06 in the high jump for a personal best, adding to what was a productive all-around day.

Girls Highlights
While the boys relay story dominated the headlines, the Lorain girls competed with characteristic toughness throughout the day.
Autumn Roberts was once again Lorain's most complete girls' performer, taking 3rd place in the 100 meter hurdles (15.90) — following up her victory at Perkins just one week ago with another podium finish. Jme Hood added an 8th place finish in the 300 meter hurdles with a personal best of 53.20, giving Lorain a scoring punch in both hurdle events.

Brajhia Phillips was the standout in the field, powering to a 4th place finish in the shot put (33-07.75) to score five points for the Titans, then adding a 6th place finish in the discus with a personal best of 107-05 — one of the most complete throwing performances of the meet. Phillips continues to be one of the most reliable point-scorers on the girls' roster.

The girls relay teams continued to build momentum. The 4x100 squad posted a season best 51.37 (5th place), the 4x200 group of Ava Miller, Janelle Butler, Autumn Roberts, and Viviana Chavez came through with a season best 1:50.50 (8th place) — a performance that reflects the chemistry and cohesion this group has developed over the course of the season. The 4x800 team of Lara Wimmer, Elizabeth Ruic, Melanie Verdin, and Abby Palazzola closed the day with a season best 11:46.63 — a sign this group is peaking at exactly the right moment.

Looking Ahead
The Lorain County Invitational was more than just a meet — it was a statement. The boys' relay corps broke a school record. Individual athletes posted personal bests in nearly every discipline. The girls' relay teams are trending upward at precisely the right time of year.

The schedule doesn't let up. Next Wednesday, the Titans return home to host Cleveland Heights in a dual meet — a prime opportunity to build on the momentum generated at the county invite. Thursday, the program sends its younger athletes to Norwalk for a JV Invitational, giving the next generation of Titans valuable competitive experience. Then the program splits to close out the week, as the boys travel to the Huron Invitational on Friday and the girls head to the Amherst Comet Relays on Saturday — two marquee invitationals that will provide a clear picture of where this program stands as championship season draws near.

The calendar is turning toward championship season, and the Lorain Titans are turning with it. The school record in the 4x200, Moore's dominance in the sprints and jumps, Roberts' back-to-back podium finishes in the hurdles, and Phillips' consistency in the throws all paint a picture of a program that is not just participating — but competing.

The schedule will only get tougher from here. So will Lorain.
